Bedugul and the highlands
1. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
Entry: 50,000 IDR
Near Wanagiri. Walk down takes eight to ten minutes, easy for most fitness levels. Two falls drop into a shared pool that's genuinely swimmable, not just a photo prop.

2. Banyu Wana Amertha
Entry: 50,000 IDR
Also near Wanagiri, but the walk in is longer, about twenty minutes. Actually four separate falls tucked into one gorge. Fewer tourists find this one, which is exactly why I like sending people here instead.

3. Nungnung Waterfall
Entry: 20,000 IDR
The one that separates the casual visitors from the committed. Around 500 steps down and the same coming back up. The single 50 meter drop throws off enough spray to soak you from thirty meters away. Bring water and don't attempt it right after lunch.

Around Ubud
4. Tegenungan Waterfall
Entry: 30,000 IDR (or free entry through Omma Day Club, which also has a lift instead of the 200 steps)
South of Ubud, and it shows. Big, powerful waterfall, but go early or expect crowds.

5. Sumampan Waterfall
Entry: 20,000 IDR
Quieter and honestly more interesting than Tegenungan. Sits in what used to be a mining site, so there's carved rock around the pool. Stairs down are steep but short, around fifty steps, and the pool is deep enough to actually swim in.

6. Tukad Cepung Waterfall
Entry: 30,000 IDR
Northeast of Ubud. Everyone's seen this one on Instagram without knowing the name, it's inside a cave with a light beam through the opening that only really works in the morning. About twenty minute walk along a riverbed to get there.

7. Suwat Waterfall
Entry: 40,000 IDR
Near Ubud, easy ten minute walk down. Has one of the deepest pools of the bunch, around three meters.

8. Leke Leke Waterfall
Entry: 50,000 IDR
Between Ubud and Bedugul. Walk in is steeper, fifteen to twenty minutes. Tall and narrow, with a flat rock ledge out front that's become the go-to photo spot.

9. Kanto Lampo Waterfall
Entry: 25,000 IDR
East of Ubud. Probably the most photographed waterfall on the island right now, and the crowd shows it. I've seen people queue over an hour just for five minutes on the rocks. Go at opening time or skip it.

Munduk and the north
10. Melanting Waterfall
Entry: 20,000 IDR
Part of the Munduk cluster, steep stairs down. Usually done in the same trip as Labuan Kebo below.

11. Labuan Kebo Waterfall
Entry: 20,000 IDR
Also in Munduk, steep stairs. Together with Melanting, this covers the highlights of the full Munduk trekking route without needing the five to six hour hike.

12. Golden Valley Waterfall
Entry: donation based
Munduk, easier fifteen minute walk. There's an Eco Cafe perched right above the falls if you want to make a lunch stop out of it.

13. Red Coral Waterfall
Entry: 45,000 IDR
Munduk, flatter twenty minute walk. Pool is shallow and rocky, so it's more of a viewing stop than a swimming one.

14. Gitgit Waterfall
Entry: 45,000 IDR
Closer to Lovina, easy to reach and 40 meters tall. Set up for tour buses, so expect vendors lining the path.

15. Aling Aling Waterfall
Entry: 20,000 IDR (cliff jumping and water slides cost extra, from around 125,000 IDR)
North Bali. Four separate falls within one complex, plus natural water slides and cliff jumps up to 15 meters. This is where you go if you want more than a photo.

16. Lemukih Water Slide
Entry: 20,000 IDR
Near Sawan. Not really a waterfall you look at, it's one you ride, down a natural rock slide on an inner tube. Walk in is ten to twenty minutes.

The two I'd think twice about
17. Taman Beji Griya
Entry: 300,000 IDR (includes a guided melukat purification ritual)
West of Ubud. Sacred site, and access now only comes through the ritual. Fine if that's what you're looking for, but it's not a casual waterfall stop anymore.

18. Sekumpul Waterfalls
Entry: varies, no fixed price
A stunning cluster of seven falls, including one of the tallest on the island at 80 meters. But there have been repeated reports of local guides pressuring visitors into paid escorts that aren't officially required. Until that gets sorted out, I'd steer clients elsewhere.
